R22 is a type of hydrochlorofluorocarbon that has now been banned in the United States. It is commonly referred to as Freon, and it was prevented from being created after 2015 as a result of what it does to the ozone layer. Shots that were taken of the south pole clearly showed that there was a hole opening up, exposing Antarctica, and certain other areas, too dangerous ultraviolet radiation. How Hydrochlorofluorocarbons Affect Ozone

There are certain molecules that are referred to as CFC molecules which are able to literally destroy ozone molecules. How Soon Must This Coolant Be Replaced?

This coolant needs to be replaced over the next few years. In the next decade, there will no longer be any Freon produced, and all of the existing products that use this hydrochlorofluorocarbon will no longer have it inside. Although there will be many people that will not replace it as it will cost money, it is the goal of every device that uses it to no longer have Freon as its primary coolant inside. Once this is done, we will no longer have to worry about the effects of this coolant causing these problems.
